The SAT is a standardized test for most college admissions in the United States. The SAT is owned, published, and developed by the College Board, a nonprofit organization in the United States. It was formerly developed, published, and scored by the Educational Testing Service which still administers the exam. The test is intended to assess a student's readiness for college. It was first introduced in 1926, and its name and scoring have changed several times. It was first called the Scholastic Aptitude Test, then the Scholastic Assessment Test.

Taking the SAT or its competitor, the ACT(American College Testing), is required for freshman entry to many, but not all, universities in the United States. The SAT is offered seven times each year in the U.S. and six times internationally. It is offered in October, November, December, January, March (U.S. only; SAT only), May and June.
But the SAT has being redesigned! With effect from March 2016 students would have to sit for the redesigned SAT.

Key Content Changes in the NEW SAT
The new SAT includes a Reading Test, Writing and Language Test, and a Math Test. Although the SAT has an optional essay component, but some colleges will still require it. SAT questions focus on skills that matter most for college readiness and success, according to the latest research.

No Penalty for Guessing
On the new SAT, you simply earn points for the questions you answer correctly. There’s no ‘negative marking’ again!
