Home DNA Paternity Testing
DNA paternity testing determines the biological father of a child. We all inherit our DNA from our biological parents — half from our mother, and half from our father. A DNA paternity test compares a child’s DNA pattern with that of an “alleged father” to determine if there is a match. When performed correctly in an experienced laboratory, it’s the most definitive proof of a biological relationship. There are two types of DNA testing for paternity from which to choose. If you need paternity test results that can be used as a legal document, then a Legal DNA Test must be performed. However, when you want a DNA paternity test strictly for your own knowledge, DNA testing at home can be a good option.

How Does a Home DNA Test Work?
Home DNA testing allows you to collect your own DNA swab test samples in the privacy of your home and mail them in to our laboratory for processing. The home DNA test kit includes step-by-step instructions that make it easy to collect the DNA samples yourself, at a time and place of your choosing, and mail the test swabs back to our laboratory for testing.
DNA testing at home is easy. It’s a quick and painless procedure that involves rubbing a cotton-like swab against the inside of the cheek to collect the samples. Using this simple procedure, samples are collected from the alleged father and child (and the mother, if she is available) and sent to our lab.

Are DNA Tests Accurate?
When done properly, DNA paternity testing is 100% accurate. uses a Dual Process™ that helps ensure error-free results through the proper handling, testing and analysis of samples.
In the case of an inclusion DNA paternity test, the results will tell how likely it is that the father is a biological match with the child. In most cases, the results will appear as a percentage, and the Probability of Paternity could be 99.99% or higher.
While an inclusion result can be 99.99% or higher, an exclusion result from a DNA paternity test is always 0%. This is because if the genetic profiles of the child and alleged father do not match, there is statistically no chance that the two are biologically related.
