VACANCY FOR ACCOUNTANT IN LAGOS
Our client a major player in the financial sector is looking to employ a company accountant.
The Accountant is responsible for the overall financial and administrative management of the organisation. This includes managing the financials operations of the firm as well as budgets for various projects and activities. Specifically, the Accountant will perform the following functions and duties:
Manage the finances of the organisation ensuring transparency and rational utilization of resources.
Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including periodic financial statements and project statements, monthly returns, annual accounts for audit purposes, etc.
Perform daily financial and accounting functions including: using the financial system to maintain proper books of accounts and maintain related software. This will include ensuring accurate and timely data entry, account reconciliations, cash flow management, payroll preparation, preparation of disbursements by cash or cheque as appropriate, managing petty cash, and maintaining all financial records and source documents. Due to the nature of cash, show extra prudence in the management of petty cash receipts and disbursements.
Manage the necessary banking arrangements and review banking arrangements from time to time to ensure the firm is utilizing the bank most cost effectively.
Audit & Internal Control:
Develop, implement and monitor appropriate internal control procedures.
Review adherence to the financial policies and procedures.
Coordinate the annual audit and ensure it is carried out on timely basis.
Prepare draft financial statements and supporting schedules for the annual audit.
Review and discuss external audit recommendations and implement as directed.
Planning and Budgeting:
Participate in and contribute to strategic and annual planning exercises for the organisation. Coordinate the budgeting processes for the Foundation and ensure budgets are aligned with strategic plans and project priorities.
Develop monthly, project and annual budgets as appropriate.
Manage and control the finances of the firm in accordance with approved plans and budgets.
Manage financial controls, prepare and analyse budgets and make recommendations to the Organisation on budget expenditures.
Qualified candidates must possess a first degree and must be a member of ICAN. They must also have at least 2 years’ experience.
